- After having a crown or a bridge prepared by your dentist, you will wear a temporary restoration until your permanent restoration is made at the lab.
- If the temporary restoration comes loose or breaks, please call us. If the temporary restoration is off for even a short period of time, the tooth can shift position and cause the final restoration to not fit well.
- It is okay to chew with the temporary crown, but please avoid foods that are chewy, sticky or crunchy. The material the temporary crown is made of is not nearly as strong as the permanent crown, and foods like nuts, mints, or candy can cause the material to break.
- Carefully clean around the restoration with a toothbrush and floss every day. When you do floss, pull the floss carefully out the side to avoid pulling the restoration off. In certain cases, we may advise you not to floss the area until your final restoration is delivered.
- Slight discomfort tenderness are possible after a tooth has had any dental treatment. Sensitivity to cold is also normal after treatment and can persist until the permanent crown is put on. Please call us if you notice any spontaeous or throbbing pain after your treatment.
- It is normal for the gum around the tooth to be tender for a day or two. If the tenderness persists any longer than two days, please call the office immediately so we can check the temporary restoration and make any needed corrections.
